Tired of game companies slicing up their games so they can sell them to you in pieces in the name of downloadable content? Tired of exclusive DLC that you can only get is certain stores? Well, EA has taken the next step and has started linking DLC to physical products - namely a set of figurines and an art book for Mass Effect 3. Buy these products and you will get exclusive DLC for the multilayer portion of the game.
While it may seem like a good deal because you are getting two things instead of one, each of the two figurine sets will set back $68. Unless you are an extreme figurine collector I don't see how this is anything remotely resembling a good deal. Videogame figurines and statues are notoriously over priced, but this may be the most expensive DLC to date - costing more than the full price of a game at $60.
I shutter to think where DLC will go from here. If only "hardcore" gamers would pull their head out of their ass and realize how bad this is for the hobby they claim to love so much.
