Wii U Requires "High Disposable Income"

QUOTE OF THE DAY
The market is going to continue to differentiate based on the types of experiences that consumers want. As an example, if I’m the head of a household of a family of four, and my disposable income is $50,000 to $60,000, I’m going to continue to look at the Wii because of the software, and it’s a great entertainment device. For consumers who want to have the latest gadgets and have a higher disposable income, that’s for the Wii U. - Reggie Fils-aime

Ignoring the obvious brain fart Reggie had in saying that average people had disposable income in the tens of thousands, it is incredibly scary what he's saying here. It was obvious that Wii U was going to be more expensive than a Wii, you could tell that by the controller alone, but quotes like these make me expect something a lot more expensive - something in the "are you f*cking crazy" PS3 launch debacle range. The talk of experimenting with new ways to monetize is just icing on the crap cake they are offering.

And it's hard to believe that Nintendo is still propping up the Wii as if it had any damn games for anyone to play, or if they still gave a shit about it and hadn't left it to rot and die 2 years ago thanks to their atrocious software support.
